Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System

The Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System or the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System-IRNSS, developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), is a regional autonomous satellite navigation system completely under the Government of India.
[1] Prime Minister Narendra Modi has named it Sailor (नाविक) while dedicating it to the fishermen of India.
[2] Its purpose is to inform its user of the exact position in the country and part of the country up to a distance of 1500 km. In this system of seven satellites, only four satellites are capable of output, but three other satellites will make the information it collects more accurately.
[3] Each satellite is worth around 150 crores rupees. The PSLV-XL launch vehicle costs Rs 130 crore.

    About NaVIC
India's domestic GPS i.e. Navigation with Indian Constellation- NaVIC has been recognized by the international organization 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project).
However, it is not GPS. This is RPS i.e. Regional Navigation System. But now smartphones companies providing international and homegrown mobile services will be able to use Sailor. This means that as soon as you will be able to use Indian GPS (NaVic) in your Smartphone. It can also be that you will get the app of NaVIC in mobile along with GPS (Global Positioning System). It has been built by the Indian Space Research Agency (ISRO).
During a meeting in California from September 16 to 20, the 3GPP has recognized the sailor as having met international standards.
Now the Telecommunication Standards Development Society of India will combine these standards with national standards. After this, NaVIC will begin showing on your smartphone rather than American GPS.
ISRO Chief Dr. K. Sivan has told an English newspaper that he is very happy that 3GPP has recognized the sailor. He said that NaVIC is working perfectly. For this, our 8 satellites are sent over India. Seven are for satellite navigation and one is for satellite messaging. Some apps which are based on NaVIC are already working, while some will start soon. Soon we will launch a NaVIC based app. So, the common man can get the advantage of it.
NaVIC is not GPS, it is RPS
People are calling it NaVIC as native GPS, however, it can't be called GPS. For this, ISRO has sent 8 satellites in the orbit of the earth. The full name of this satellite is - Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) or NaVIC. This will provide you with higher navigation than GPS anywhere in India.

Also, correct positioning up to 1500 kilometers outside the country's borders is going to be well-known.

What will be the benefit of the introduction of NaVIC?

After the launch of the NaVIC app, we will know the way easily on all three land, air and water. It will also help in disaster management. Apart from this, there will be ease in vehicle tracking and fleet management. The NaVIC will look exactly the same as the American GPS, but its quality will be better than the GPS.

Positioning systems of other countries of the world:-

  1. America: GPS means a global positioning system, 24 satellites.
  2. Russia: GLONASS ie Global Navigation Satellite System, 24 satellites.
  3. Europe: There is a total of 26 satellites in the system named Galileo.
  4. China: BDS ie Beedou Navigation Satellite System, has 30 satellites.
